LEGAL TRANSLATION

LEGAL TRANSLATION

Avanza Traducciones works for many law firms in Spain, the UK and the USA. It is one of their main suppliers of legal translations, with the added value that we have extensive experience in legal-specialised texts, i.e. texts that combine legal writing and exposition with a high level of technical terminology.

Translation is an art. It requires extensive academic training and experience, which is why all the specialised translators who make up our team have at least 8 years of experience and specific areas of specialisation. Of course, native speakers of the target language. That is why we are a safe bet for your specialised translation needs.

Likewise, elaborating TM (Translation Memory) and client-specific glossaries, starting from general technical glossaries, is important to adapt the terminology to the client’s tastes.

Your project manager will ensure that your specialised translations are done by the same team whenever possible, following the accepted TM.

In Specialised Translation, we can make out the following areas of specialisation:

Legal translation applies to texts of a legal nature or containing legal terminology but which do not require the signature of the sworn or official translator. To do the legal translation, we have legal translators, who are also native speakers and specialists in the country’s case law, supported by glossaries and EU regulations.

As an additional handicap, we work with legal texts that combine terminology and legal form with technical terminology, e.g. a “writ of application for injunctive relief in audita parte on the patent of a pharmaceutical product”. Avanza Traducciones has a department dedicated to the most renowned law firms in Spain.

Despite the general opinion, financial translation is a specialised and highly complicated type of translation, as the translator must adapt to the regulations, General Accounting Plan, and specifications of the country of the target language. In other words, if we translate an annual report into English for an English company with a subsidiary in Spain, which must present its accounts translated into English to its parent company, the translator must adapt the terminology to the UK General Chart of Accounts.

The financial translator must have an absolute command of their main working language pair and additional training in the economic and financial sectors. In addition, to provide a quality financial translation, the translator must have at least three years’ experience translating this type of text.
