Simultaneous interpreting booths, also called translation booths, are used for simultaneous interpreting. The interpreters sit inside them and can see the conference table or stage using the interpreter panel and specific audio equipment and wiring. They receive the sound of the microphone in the room and broadcast the translation that reaches the audience through wireless receivers.
This same configuration can be created in an adjoining room for rooms where there is no space for the interpreters. The whole equipment configuration is similar, with the difference that the interpreters are in a room with monitors that view the main hall, as one or more cameras are connected to the main hall.
Translation booths, or when the client requests this service, you should be aware that all the necessary equipment is portable, including the booths themselves, so we can assemble them at any location at least 3 to 4 hours before the start of the event, depending on the place of assembly and its access facilities, unless the event starts at 9 a.m., in which case they will be assembled the day before. The space needed in the room is 2 metres by 2 metres per booth. If the room does not have this space or is not suitable due to lack of visibility, we can install the booth in an adjoining room and take the image of the presentation table or stage through a closed-circuit video with the minimum material and economic cost.
Depending on the number of booths and additional equipment, a technician and one or more assistants coordinate the interpreting booths and all the additional equipment. Their job is to give the interpreters a practically soundproof place where the speaker’s voice can clearly reach them to conduct their interpreting and transmit the simultaneous interpreting to the audience’s receivers.
In addition to the translation booth, as far as sound is concerned, if the room has adequate sound and public address equipment, we connect our equipment to it. If not, we will provide the sound and public address system for the room after an evaluation visit by our technicians.
